A new controversy has emerged surrounding the Tirupati Temple, as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by Surjit Singh Yadav, President of the Hindu Sena, in the Supreme Court, seeking an investigation into the alleged use of animal fat in the preparation of the temple’s famous laddus. These allegations have stirred concerns among Hindu devotees, as the laddus are considered a sacred offering at the Tirupati Balaji temple.
Yadav claims that animal fat, instead of pure ghee, has been used in the preparation of these laddus, which not only violates religious practices but also deeply hurts the sentiments of millions of devotees who regard these offerings as pure and divine. He has requested the court to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the matter and ensure that the temple maintains the highest standards of purity in its offerings.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the temple’s operations, has strongly refuted these allegations, stating that the laddus are prepared under strict quality control and hygienic conditions. They assure that only high-quality, pure ghee and ingredients are used in the process, and no animal fat is involved.
This incident has sparked a broader debate about the transparency and authenticity of offerings at religious institutions. As the Supreme Court examines the PIL, devotees across the country await the outcome, hoping that the sanctity of their beloved Tirupati laddus will be upheld. This case serves as a reminder of the need to maintain strict quality standards, especially for offerings that hold deep spiritual significance for millions of people.
